Home remedies to get relieve from foot pain: Foot pain is one of the common ailments, which affects people of all age group. Foot pain occur anywhere in foot which includes arch, ankle, sole, heel and toes. Foot pain may occur due to number of reasons like diabetes, ingrown toenails, mineral deficiency, some kind of fracture, standing on feet for long period of time, excessive walking, wearing uncomfortable shoes, old age and other health conditions.

Cold and Hot Water : Cold and hot water therapy is very effective to treat foot pain. Hot treatment promotes blood flow and cold treatments reduces inflammation.


  • Take a bucket with cold water and second one with hot water. Sit in a chair, dip you feet in hot water first for three minutes and then do this same procedure with cold water for 10 seconds. Repeat this process for two or three times and end with the cold bath of foot.

  • Second option is to apply heat pad and ice pack alternately for 10 minutes to reduce pain.

Vinegar :Vinegar is used for number of treatments and help to get relieve from foot pain due to strains as this reduces inflammation.


  • Fill a tub using hot water. Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar into it. You can mix sea salt into it. If you don’t have any of these, then use table salt. Soak your feet for 20 minutes.

  • Put a mixture of equal amount of water and vinegar in two containers. Use hot water on one and cold water in another. Soak towel in hot mixture and squeeze out excess liquid and wrap it around your feet. Leave feet wrapped for 5 minutes. Do this procedure using cold mixture. Repeat this process for 3-4 times daily.

Epsom Salt : This salt helps to soothe feet, this will give you instant relief to foot. Combination of Epsom salt and heat acts as primarily magnesium and works well to relax and ease feet pain.


  • Put 2-3 tablespoons of Epsom salt in tub of warm water.

  • Soak feet in tub for 10-15 minutes

  • Salt can make feet dry, so you can apply moisturizer after soaking them

Ice : Ice therapy is a good method to reduce foot pain and swelling on feet. Put some small amount of crushed ice in small plastic bag and use to massage affected area in circular motion. You can use a bag of wrapped frozen vegetable in thin towel.


Cold temperature temporarily numb nerve ending in painful area and gives relief. In this way swelling get reduced. Don’t use ice pack for more than 10 minutes at a single time, this may damage skin and nerves.

Clove Oil : Clove oil is much effective in treating nail fungus, athlete’s foot, joint pain and headaches and also boosts circulation.


  • For a quick relief, you can gently massage aching feet with clove oil. It will stimulate the blood flow and will relax muscles. Do massage to you feet and heel with clove oil several times a day.

  • If you are having a sensitive skin, dilute 3 drops of clove oil with one teaspoon of virgin coconut oil or olive oil and massage your feet using it.
