Tips to get rid of Stretch Marks

Stretch marks are the visible lines on skin surface, with off color hue. These marks are mainly found in abdominal wall, but can occur over thighs, breasts, buttocks, upper arms.


Sometimes these marks can cover up large areas of body. While pregnancy is main cause behind stretch marks, other reason can sudden loss or gain in weight, stress and changes in the physical conditions, factors, rapid growth.

As skin get stretched, collagen get weakened and it is normal production cycle get damaged and interrupted. It is an ultimate result in the fine scars under top layer of skin. Initially marks look red or pink, but over the time a thin, silver line will appear on skin surface and stretch mark get born.


Stretch marks appear on skin surface when someone grows up quickly or put on the weight quickly.


Stretch marks can make you uncomfortable and self conscious about appearance. But fortunately, there are many ways to reduce appearance of stretch marks.

1. Castor Oil

Castor Oil is used in treatment of number of skin problems like pimples, fine lines,dark spots, moles,age spots,wrinkles, can be used to get rid of the stretch marks.

  1. Apply castor oil to stretch marks and gently massage on the area in the circular motion for 5-10 minutes.

  2. Wrap an area using a thin, cotton cloth. Using hot water bottle, apply some heat to affected area for at least for a half an hour.

  3. Repeat process daily for minimum a month to get positive results.

2. Aloe Vera

There are a couple of ways to apply it. Aloe vera is an effective treatment for many skin problems. Its soothing and healing properties can be used to get rid off the stretch marks.

  • You can easily rub directly aloe vera gel on affected skin area, leave this for 15 minutes and rinse skin using lukewarm water.

  • An other option is to make mixture with one fourth cup of aloe vera gel, oil from 10 capsules of Vitamin E and Vitamin A capsules. Rub this mixture on the skin until it get fully absorbed.Repeat this process on daily basis.

3. Egg Whites

A good source of protein is Egg. For the stretch marks, you can use egg white which contain proteins and amino acids.

  1. Whip white of two eggs gently using fork. Now clean affected skin area using water and apply a thick layer of egg whites using a makeup brush.

  2. Allow egg whites to dry up completely and the rinse of the area using cold water.

  3. Now finally apply some olive oil on skin to keep this moisturized.

  4. Repeat process daily for the least two weeks and then watch for the positive results.

4. Lemon Juice

A simple another way to lessen up stretch mark is to use up lemon juice. Lemon juice is an acidic which helps to heal up and reduce the stretch marks, scars,acne.

  • Rub up fresh lemon juice smoothly onto stretch marks using the circular motions. Allow lemon juice to soak up into skin for least 10 minutes before rinsing off using warm water.

  • An other option is to mix up equal quantities of lemon juice and cucumber juice and apply mixture on stretch marks.

5. Sugar

White Sugar is one of the best home remedy to get rid of the stretch mark. You can use sugar to exfoliate skin.

  1. Mix one tablespoon of sugar with some amount of almond oil and few drops of lemon juice. Mix well and apply this mixture on the stretch marks and on the other skin areas.

  2. Smoothly rub mixture on skin for few minutes everyday before taking shower.

  3. Repeat this process for a month and watch stretch marks to get lighter.

6. Potato Juice

Potato juice carries minerals and vitamins which foster the growth and restoration of skin cells.

  1. Cut down a medium sized potato in thick slices.

  2. Take potato pieces and rub gently on the stretch marks for few minutes. Just make sure that starch from potato cover up the affected area.

  3. Allow potato juice to dry up for some time and wash off using lukewarm water.
